With increasingly stringent environmental protection policies, more and more high-salt wastewater is required to be treated with zero discharge. Evaporation crystallization technology can achieve the resource utilization of sodium sulfate and sodium chloride in high-salt wastewater, so evaporation crystallization technology has gradually become mainstream under this trend. For the evaporated salt, we generally use a rotary dryer for drying.

A rotary dryer is an internally heated, conductive, rotating drying equipment. The material obtains heat from the outer wall of the drum through conduction to remove moisture and achieve the required moisture content. Its feeding methods include central feeding, immersion feeding, splash feeding, and small roller feeding.

Rotary dryers are divided into single-cylinder, double-cylinder, and multi-cylinder dryers, with double-cylinder dryers being the most widely used.

The figure above shows a double-rotary dryer, whose structure is more compact than two single-rotary dryers with similar power requirements. This type of dryer uses conduction for heat transfer. The moisture in the wet material is first heated to the boiling point, and the dry material is heated to a temperature close to that of the drum surface.

Rotary dryers have advantages such as low power consumption, low investment, low maintenance costs, and easy adjustment of drying time and temperature (by changing the drum speed and heating steam pressure). However, the disadvantages are relatively low production capacity compared to other drying equipment, high labor intensity, and poor working conditions.

Sometimes, people add a sealed cover to the outside of the drum for the following purposes:

0 1

To achieve vacuum drying operation;

0 2

Dust prevention; isolating air to prevent flammable and explosive materials from contacting air, causing fires or explosions.

0 3

To recover toxic or valuable vapors evaporated during drying.

Therefore, vacuum rotary dryers are only used for drying some special items.
