Huzhong Company Chairman Tian Xufeng Speaks Out in Saudi Arabia: Technological Innovation Solves "Desert Water Crisis"
The 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, from December 2 to 13, 2024. Government officials, businesses, and civil society representatives from multiple countries gathered to collaboratively address the challenges of desertification. The Chinese government established a special China Pavilion at this conference, showcasing and introducing desertification prevention and control and the "Three-North" Shelterbelt Program for the first time overseas.
This conference focused on key discussions surrounding land restoration, drought resilience, the sustainable development agenda, and people-centered approaches. At COP16, Chinese representatives shared their practical experience in desertification prevention and control, including in the Yellow River Basin, such as organizational management models and technological innovation applications in ecological engineering construction. This facilitates exchange with the international community, absorption of advanced foreign concepts and technologies, and further improvement of desertification control strategies along the Yellow River.
The Beijing Entrepreneur Environmental Protection Foundation (SEE Foundation), established in 2008, was initiated by the Alxa SEE Ecological Association. It is committed to building a social protection platform involving entrepreneurs, environmental NGOs, and the public to jointly promote ecological protection and sustainable development. As an observer organization of the UNCCD, the SEE Foundation actively participated in various activities in the blue and green zones of the COP16 conference, sharing with global partners the practices of China's civil society forces in desertification prevention and control.
